  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Rodrygo, who was said to be unhappy at Real Madrid during former manager Ancelotti's final months in charge. The Brazilian forward struggled as he competed with Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe for minutes and the Spanish giants have reportedly slapped a £76 million (€90m/$104m) asking price on his head, with the Gunners thought to be keen.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Arsenal are looking to increase their squad depth after injuries disrupted their Premier League title challenge, but ex-France international Gallas doesn't think a move for Rodrygo would be worthwhile as Mikel Arteta already has Martinelli at his disposal.

  • WHAT GALLAS SAID

Speaking to Prime Casino, who offer the latest online slots, Gallas said: "Rodrygo might want to leave Real Madrid, but that doesn’t mean he will want to play for Arsenal.

"I think it’s important that Arsenal stick with Gabriel Martinelli because we have seen the level he can perform at.

"Things are difficult for Rodrygo at the moment but Arsenal might be better off sticking with what they have."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Martinelli registered ten goals in all competitions across the 2024-25 season, while compatriot Rodrygo has hit the back of the net 14 times and can still improve that record during the ongoing Club World Cup.
